About the Role

Uber Eats is one of the fastest growing areas in the company, balancing the marketplace across merchants, advertisers, consumers and Uber. As a backend engineer on the Home Feed team you will drive the implementation of a variety of products and systematic improvements while working closely with cross functional folks and other senior engineers. We are just scratching the surface of building a world class advertising and marketing platform for our marketers to reach our active users on the Uber platform. ---- Basic Qualifications ----

• Technical strength with 2+ years of experience developing and shipping code for production systems
• Ability to learn quickly on the go. We're looking for software engineers who thrive while learning new technologies and don't believe in one-size-fits-all solutions. You should be able to easily adapt to meet the needs of our massive growth and rapidly-evolving business environment.
• You have a strong command of a backend stack (eg. Golang, Java, Node.js, Python, etc)
• Deep system design skills. You know how to build highly-scalable, robust, and fault-tolerant services that support our unique exponential growth requirements.
• Bias toward action. You believe that speed and quality aren't mutually exclusive. You've shown good judgment about shipping as fast as possible while ensuring your products and platforms are built in a sustainable, responsible way--and you're comfortable making mistakes, provided you learn from them.
• Passion and energy. You bring infectious enthusiasm to all your endeavors. You always perform at your best and drive those around you to do the same. You see new challenges as an opportunity to contribute, make an impact, and grow.
• Strong collaboration in the way you develop and ownership of the systems and products you build.

• Experience working on customer facing products.
• Experience on ranking and relevance based algorithms that require integration with different personalization algorithms.
• Ability to partner with MLEs and Scientists on scalable deployment of models.

For New York, NY-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$167,000 per year - USD$185,500 per year.

For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$167,000 per year - USD$185,500 per year.

For Seattle, WA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$167,000 per year - USD$185,500 per year.

For Sunnyvale, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$167,000 per year - USD$185,500 per year.
